Leon County property tax may rise

Leon County’s 2013 budget may lead to a possible property tax raise. Commissioners met recently to decide how to use the current budget after a $12.5 million cut. They decided to use $4.96 million in reserves. If their $3 million cut is approved, the property tax rate will increase from $7.85 to $8.31. Two public hearings will be held today.
