The Florida State University College of Law hosted an event sponsored by Leon County and the Tallahassee office of Holland and Knight Law Firm to commemorate September 11th.

This event marks the eleventh anniversary of the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center. “9/11: Day of Remembrance Service” is a program affiliated with the “I Will 9/11 day movement.”

“Nothing makes us more proud as Leon County employees when standing with, and serving beside our community supporters today,” says Vince Long.

From 11 to 1 p.m., students, residents and city officials filled FSU College of Law, Rotunda, to hear from those who had first hand accounts of 9/11.

Leon County commissioner, chairman Akin Akinyemi recognized some of those first responders who were in attendance.

“September 11th will never be just a day in the hearts and minds of America…..” says Akinyemi.

Holland and Knight Law Firm also introduced the Glenn J. Winuk Humanitarian Award. Winuk was a Holland and Knight partner and volunteer firefighter who died in the south tower of the World Trade Center while trying to help others.
