Tallahassee homeless shelter deals with overcrowding

Winter is approaching and the homeless will need shelter.
Many homeless people will go to The Shelter of Tallahassee when the temperature decreases. The Shelter accommodates people living on the street each year and often faces overcrowding. Jacob Reiter, program coordinator at The Shelter, says space is a daily problem.
“We only have a limited amount of space inside the building so every night we have 240 plus people,” says Reiter.“About 40 men are sleeping out back every night, because we are filled up on the inside.”
Local businesses help with the overflow to manage the crowd at The Shelter. One homeless man who stays at The Shelter says he is satisfied with the organization and has no complaints. Another man said he sleeps in his car during the winter so he won’t have to deal with space issues.
