Milk’s Nutritional Value – Lactose Breakfast
This week marks the state-wide school breakfast week, with milk being the number one drink giving to students; milk’s nutritional value is now being questioned. The National Institutes of Health says about thirty million Americans have lactose intolerance, which is the inability to digest a type sugar in milk. The condition can cause gas, heartburn, nausea, bloating, and diarrhea. Some people still believe that milk is necessary for calcium. The academy of nutrition and dietetics says milk is a nutrient-dense beverage that contains protein, phosphorus, potassium, vitamin B12, calcium, vitamin D, and other vitamins and minerals.
