The grand opening of the Delta Kappa Omega/Providence Community Service Center was held today. The ribbon cutting ceremony was this morning, hosted by the Delta Kappa Omega Foundation, Incorporated, along with the city of Tallahassee and the providence neighborhood association.

The president of the Delta Kappa Omega Association, Dr. Darice Richards, spoke out about the purpose of the center and its upcoming events. Mayor John Marks also made an appearance at the center today. The center is a recipient of the U.S. Green Building Council’s, first annual green building outreach initiative. Throughout the building there are facts on the wall, displaying the center’s green efficiency.

They’ll be hosting a public reception this afternoon from four until seven; with live entertainment and a presentation of the events taking place at the center. Some of the events include home efficiency classes, computer training classes, Super Senior Tuesdays, camera club, first-time homeowner classes, foreclosure prevention classes, Senior vs. Crime, literacy classes, yoga classes, dental hygiene awareness classes and more. The center is located on 1908 Highland Street in Tallahassee.
