Surrounding Universities Help Local Businesses

Tallahassee was voted the 10th best college destination by the American Institute for Economic Research. With two major universities in town, it’s not hard to see why. College students are not the only ones benefitting from this town.
The businesses would not be able to succeed without the help of Tallahassee’s student population. Linda Tice, the owner of Athena’s Garden counts on local students to be return customers to her store.
“I would say that 60 to 70 percent of our customer base comes from the surrounding universities. We absolutely depend on the college communities to keep our doors open.”
There are many stores that depend on students in order to stay in business. As the universities continue to grow, the economy in Tallahassee grows as well.
