Fire Prevention Week

By Willis Mcphee, News 20 at 5

On September 26th, the Tallahassee Fire Department responded to a 9-1-1 call of a house fire. The fire was at 2502 Golf Terrace Drive.

When firefighters arrived, the single story house was engulfed in flames. The family inside the house made it out safely.

The Firefighters weren’t able to save neither the house nor the two vehicles.

To ensure residents safety, TFD kicked offed its annual fire prevention week. This year’s event is themed “Have 2 Ways Out, Be Rabbit Ready.”

October 7th to the 13th, TFD looks to interact with churches, schools and local businesses to ensure fire safety for the public. Some tips provided are kitchen fire equipment protection, fire extinguishers usage, information for smoke detectors, exit drills on the home etc.
