Florida to change license plate design

The two oranges and orange blossom on your license plate may be dumped in the next two years. State officials are now drawing up plans for a new design for the Florida license plate.
This new design is intended to help make it easier to catch scofflaws who go through toll booths as well as people who run red lights. The state plans to put the new designs online, so the public can vote on which design is liked best.
“We are running out of digits to use,” said Kirsten Olsen-Doolan, spokeswoman for the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. “And it will make it easier for officers to see.”
The prices for the tags will remain the same, but those who haven’t updated their tags in the past will have to pay extra.
