Justice Department finishes its investigation into mortgage scams

A crime that is hitting home for many people across the country just so happens to be mortgage fraud. According to the Financial Fraud Enforcement Task Force, 530 criminal defendants have been in charged in 285 federal cases across the country. Of these cases, there are more than 73,000 homeowner victims and losses totaling more than a billion dollars. The task force is cracking down on some of the scam artists. For those affected by the scheme, the FFET will hold free financial planning workshops.
